Interest in Ludovico Ariosto’s last home is well evidenced by the large number of visitor signatures on the registers at the entrance to the parva domus. Tra i nomi illustri tra cui figura anche quello di Giuseppe Verdi (4 maggio 1872), alla cui firma un estimatore il giorno successivo aggiunse l’augurio “All’autore dell’Aida”.

Another historic date is 1933, the year of the fourth centenary of the death do Ariosto, which drew numerous personalities from the world of culture to Ferrara. Clearly attested was the presence of Victor Emmanuel III on October 15, 1933, and that of Alfonso XIII of Spain, in exile in Italy. In the same year, between May and September, we also find the signatures of Vincenzo Cardarelli, Lanfranco Caretti, who played such a large part in Ariosto’s criticism, Alfredo Grilli, Carlo Emilio Gadda and Attilio Bertolucci, who had always been attracted to the Este city.

Other illustrious visits took place between 1938 and 1943, when the Parva Domus was visited by Giovanni Papini, Corrado Tumiati, Guido Piovene and Filippo de Pisis who, having returned from his long stay in Paris, went there on January 2, 1940. Significant, finally, was the presence of Giorgio Bassani in 1949 as well as that of Pier Paolo Pasolini on September 21, 1953.
